Western Trillium (Trillium ovatum)

I always point out a trillium when I see it.  A stack of 3’s (petals and leaves), with a beautiful delicate flower that rewards close study – what a jewel!

Field ID Tips

·         Blooms February to June.

·         3 petals.  3 small leaves (called sepals) offset with the petals.  3 main leaves below that.

·         Often found under redwoods, in damp shade.
