Elk Clover (Aralia californica)

Elk clover is a large, lush green plant, found next to streams in shady areas.  The very large leaves are openly divided into large leaflets.  Each leaflet is about 3” wide and 8” long, so the whole leaf covers an area of several feet.  The flower structure is distinctive - a sphere of greenish white stalks, each tipped with a tiny whitish flower.
