Chamise (Adenostoma fasciculatum)

Chamise is a woody shrub, often 3 or 4 feet tall although it can get quite a bit taller.  He dry woody stems are often more apparent than its tiny leaves.

Field ID Tips

·         Tiny leaves that look like short (less than 1 “) needles.

·         New growth is often pale green, as in the photo.

·         Small, creamy white flowers.

·         Chamise is often paler looking than the plants around it.
